Do Salomon running shoes run true to size?
How Salomon running shoes fit: length, width and which models to size up in.
The verdict
True to size, with a few snug exceptions.
Yes: most Salomon running shoes are true to size, but on the narrow side.
Length is usually true to size, but Salomon's fit is close and precise, built for control on technical ground. Wide feet often need half a size up, or a wide version where there is one.

Between sizes?
Running shoes should leave about a thumb's width between your longest toe and the end of the shoe. Your feet swell on longer runs, so a shoe that feels just right in the shop can feel tight at mile ten. If you're between sizes, go up half a size for long runs and marathons; for short, fast race shoes, a closer fit is fine.
If your feet are wide, a wide version beats going up a size: a longer shoe adds length where you don't need it, and your foot can slide around.
Frequently asked questions
Should I size up in Salomon running shoes?
Not usually. Most Salomon running shoes fit in your normal size. The exception is the Speedcross 6, which fits closer: go half a size up if your feet are wide or you're between sizes.
Do Salomon make wide-fit running shoes?
Yes. The Speedcross 6 comes in a wide fit.
Is Salomon sizing the same as Nike's?
For length, mostly yes. Both are on the narrow side, so if your feet are wide, half a size up helps in either.
How we know
We read what independent reviewers consistently report about each shoe's fit, alongside Salomon's own guidance, and check which wide fits are actually on sale. As readers tell us how their shoes fit, we'll add that too.
